And lo, it came to pass that the tour was over, the additional performances done the year was over and it was time … to plan next year! There are so many stories to tell from this year, after much heartbreak and struggle we got to tour. This tour was such great success to chalk up and a joy for us and for you!! I am working on a wee mailout for you I hope to cover some or all of the above AND to get it out before the bells…. !! Hello everyone
My apologies for the great delay in updating everything. It's been an incredibly busy time. Delighted to have a single - Leaving, from the new album out into the world, the first in ages. Of course we did finally get to do the same sky UK 30th ( 32nd) Anniversary tour. Except due to me being taken to hospital after our London show and then all of us coming back from the south with covid we had to reschedule 3 shows once more.

These are the last full band shows this year. Until we finish the new album there wont be many full band shows. Its was such a thrill to do a show at Theatre Royal and then finishing live band show at one of our fave venues The queens Hall. I am planning to do a few acoustic-y shows in spring, more on that nearer the time. I expect to be back in the studio by January to record the last few songs and overdub some of the existing ones. I hope to be touring in autumn next year showing off the new songs!!
On 15th October I am back at Harbour arts centre for The Braw and the Brave podcast show in which Lisa Kennedy will interview me and I will perform a few songs. We’ll have a Q & A section too. Braw and the brave at HAC
Another event for the diary, I’ll be joining Elaine Lennon on one of her Homebird sessions. A conversation and both of us singing Boo Hewrdine makes a wee guest appearance and Elaine will join me in one of my songs This is on 6th Nov and is an afternoon event Homebird Sessions - Cumbernauld

LEAVING, The single.
We are there now, finally. I am very pleased and excited for this. It’s been a long time since there was any new release at all. I have been busily working away behind the scenes, writing and recording. I thoroughly enjoyed the time spent at St Mary's Space in Fasnacloich with Jamie Smith. I plan a return trip to finish the final tracks in a few months time, after the same sky tour. I hope I can release the new album later this year.
I got the lovely Elspeth MacKay to do one of her awesome string arrangements to add to the existing mix. She, Nicola and Cat recorded the parts with Johnny Smillie at La Chunky Towers The first time anyone will be able to see the video is with Diva Magazine there will be a 48 hour very exclusive play for Diva. After that it will be released and available on all platforms. The release date is now 7th March….. I am giving one mag a 48 hour exclusive on the video …. I’ll let you know the details soon 🕺

I feel like I am just awakening from a deep sleep. My mood has been a bit meh at times and finding its bit hard to focus.
The Same Sky Anniversary tour has been moved various times. With such a nightmare to reschedule so many gigs it was trauma every time and took ages to finalise. Then they changed again. It is sad that Dundee Rep was part of the reshuffling again. I know people are gutted. I know its annoying. We feel the same. With The Rep, the first show on the tour moving a little forward for safety’s sake to a place we feel will encourage people to come back out again felt right. The new date is Wed 25th May. As originally planned we will have the addition of strings.
We now begin the UK tour on the 18th of March at Lanark Memo with strings

TRIO we had such a positive and uplifting time on this tour. The songs seemed to take on new dimensions. Thanks to all at Strathearn Arts Crieff, the Rockfield Centre Oban and Coveburgh Halls. Its safe to say we may repeat this, adding more shows around the same time next year.

A wee CATCH UP : I am so far behind with updating my website. Like everyone else I am picking myself up and dusting myself down. We had a smashing night at Albert Hall Stirling Fri 16th July, as part of the #AlbertSmalls sessions. Gemma Lorny and I were also joined by the lovely Mike McKenzie. The staff and crew were so nice!
It was exhilarating to be back on stage in front of fellow humans once more after too long a gap ( over 17 months !! ) We were only allowed so many in the outdoor space!! I have to confess to being a tad shy!! Me - someone who has been performing all of my life!! It was so good to see these beautiful people part of my band fam too. Don’t worry we’ll soon have normal service resumed by the time we tour Spring 2022. I’ll be reminding you of where and when very soon!!

Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline
There was a Live performance in which I was accompanied by Gemma Roberts and Lorny Thomas from the band. The first time we have seen each other in 16 months. Located in the old Library, Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline for the first OnFife spring festival. We ran through the songs from the Same Sky, absolutely loved it. I hope to share some excerpts from this at some point.

The official unveiling of something very special - special for me, special for the great artist @roxanahallsartist and special for @natgalleriessco and dare I say a special moment for our country? Unfortunately due to covid restriction we could not physically attend. @mrjonathanphang kindly did the honours when I visited Roxana’s Studio in London, the day I saw the portrait for the first time.
When Roxana approached me to paint my portrait, that in itself was amazing - I was thrilled. I could not imagine, at that point, where this would lead. However, after a long journey, The portrait was acquired for the permanent collection of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery & now hangs in their magnificent Great Hall. It is part of the National Collection. Grateful to @ig5523. Imogen Gibbon, Deputy Director & Chief Curator of the SNPG and @natgalleriessco for their foresight and pluck. This is like a dream. How blessed, proud and honoured I am 💫

I think of you, what we share: the collective, life affirming, love of music and what it brings to us all. I have a great desire to be with my band again, to make music and travel - I miss travelling and meeting people. I feel a real need to be singing to you now more than ever. I really miss singing.
If you are an existing ticket holder for this tour you will simply turn up on the new date next year? I am most grateful for your continued patience. It would be helpful if people were to join us next year rather than request a refund but if you do want a refund that is of course ok too. It's been such a tough time for everyone.
We are keeping our fingers crossed that we will finally take to the stage for #samesky30 in Spring '22.

Horse is an iconic and utterly unique singer/songwriter, her voice described as a finely honed instrument, together with breathtaking stagecraft. Horse McDonald is the iconic, Scottish singer, songwriter. She has been writing, recording and performing for over 30 years. There are 9 Horse albums to date - the first, The same sky was released on Capitol in 1990. There have been 8 others.
November 2018, it was the 25th anniversary of the second Horse album, ”God's Home Movie", named after one of her most successful songs . In 2020 its another big anniversary - the 30th anniversary of The Same Sky, the first Horse album.
